Weekly Status Report #7-8

It's time for another regular weekly status report. The plan is to be transparent and share the state of the project, showcased in very subjective percentages.

This time I'm combining status reports 7&8.  However, they are both posted separately on Patreon.

Week 7

Week 7 was a wild rush to get the demo out (v0.07). The WebGL build was working fine but for some reason I couldn't get it to load when it's embedded on a itch.io page.  In the end I managed to get it to work by playing around in settings in Unity. I'm still not too happy with the resolution of the build on itch.io but it will do for now.

If you missed the announcement, the first demo of Lucy's Game v0.07 is available here on Itch.io and GitHub (recommended version). Both demos are playable in browsers.

After the excitement from the release settled, work contained on finishing the remaining scenes from Chapter 1.

The good news is that all the dialogue is complete, there's a lot of it, and it has a great flow. The bad news is that since there's a big chunk of dialogue, it requires another pose change in the last scene. This is to keep the players engaged since there's a lot of dialogue to go through.

But still, the general plan is to have the chapter 1 complete this time next week. It's optimistic but doable. There are also some minor bugs to fix and some UI improvements suggested by Redditors in this thread.

Week 8

Work in week 8 was focused on polishing the current build and testing it on android. There were some issues with building the game in Unity but everything went well in the end.

Patrons can download the android build here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/68960877

The build brings UI improvements and small dialogue changes.

The rest of the week was spent polishing the remaining graphics. All the scenes are done and polished, all it's left to do is implement facial expressions.

Here's the breakdown of current progress:

Chapter 1

Art  - 95% complete

All the scenes are completed. There's still some work on the facia expressions

Story - 100% complete

All the dialogue for the first chapter is complete.

Programming - 90% done

Dialogue is implemented in Unity. There's work to be done on scene changes and facial expressions

What's next

Putting everything together and finishing chapter 1. It should be available for patrons early next week. At the same time, version 0.075 (release from week 8) will be available for free for everyone here on Itch. Subscribe to the Patreon to get early access.

Thanks for reading!
