Weekly Status Report #4

It's time for another regular weekly status report. The plan is to be transparent and share the state of the project, showcased in very subjective percentages.

Last week good progress has been made on user interface. There's nothing worse than a clunky UI to make a person cool off when playing the game. Lucy's Game is designed with mobile experiences in mind, portrait mode first so players can relax 😏 while enjoying the game. For those reasons, it's very important to get the UI system working properly. It also has to be robust to handle all the dialogue variations that are planned.

Here's the current progress breakdown:

Chapter 1

Art  - 70% complete

4/5 scenes are completed although there's always room for more polish. One idea that's floating around is to have minimal animated backgrounds but that would come in one of the later updates.

Story - 60% complete

Progress has been made on dialogue, especially in the first half of chapter 1. The second half is still open-ended, there are some story points that need to be properly set up for later chapters.

Programming - 60% done

There's been good progress on the UI as previously described at the start of this update.

What's next

More work on the programming track is scheduled for this week. The main focus will be on switching between the screens. That should be as smooth as possible, hopefully with some nice transitions in between

There's no fixed date yet for the first public build. Depending on how the programming tasks go, it can be anywhere from 1-2 weeks. Stay tuned!
